Determined to get a good quality recording out of my work, I tried a lot of different things. My first attempt was improving my home studio and seeing if I could do my own recordings. After spending a lot of time, money and energy trying this out, (and about 8 different versions of Corporate Robots) I came to the conclusion that I just don't have the right space or skills to make this a professional experience.
Attempt #2 was to try and cut a few songs from a cheap studio. For this experiment, I used my two most ready tracks - "Meeting of the Mouths" and "Corporate Robots", and attempted to play all the instruments except drums. At the end, I felt I got what I paid for...results were ok, but again not up to standard.
Finally I resigned to getting an actual professional studio to help me out. After looking at several options, I decided on Gravity Studios. I loved the vibes. They had a great history of acts recording there like Smashing Pumpkins, Against Me, Veruca Salt...and really felt they could take my songs to the next level. I was very impressed with their ability to bring and mold my visions to life.
